FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS:

Landscape Depot was founded in Framingham at 350 Irving Street in March of 2001 by John Mullen.

After several years of growing this site it became apparent that the marketplace was responding to our type of service levels and superior product offerings. He then opened his second location in Upton.

Not long after, we realized the next area he could successfully service was in the classic MetroWest market. He planted roots on the heavily trafficked and convenient Route 9 in Westboro in 2005.

Meanwhile the Upton site was beginning to grow very quickly and a better location presented itself on Dilla Street in Milford in 2006. Mullen was on the move again as he relocated the Upton operation to Milford.

With three locations operating at the same time and gaining market share due to focusing on the landscape contractor and their needs, Mullen worked to improve process and efficiencies before growing any further geographically.

In 2011, Landscape Depot was on the move again with the opening of the location in Walpole on the heavily traveled Route One artery not far from Gillette stadium, home of the New England Patriots. This location allowed the Depot to operate in the southern portion of the state and be a potential platform into Northern Rhode Island. Additionally, the location of this unit gave Mullen exceptional visibility to the retail market.

The last expansion was in Sutton, Massachusetts in 2013 when Landscape Depot took over the long standing, successfully-operated business of C.P. Dauphinais. With a good infrastructure and customer base, we went to work quickly to transform this location into a Landscape Depot site based on his learnings from the other four locations.

Landscape Depot continues to be acquisitive and look for opportunities to grow the business and better serve the community, landscape professionals and homeowners looking to build their dreams.

Milestones

In 2015 Landscape Depot sold over half a million square feet of pavers (this figure does not include natural stone)

Landscape Depot employs over 25 people full time, collectively this talented group has well over 150 years experience in our industry. There is over one acre of outdoor display area throughout the Landscape Depot network. In 2015 Landscape Depot sold over 45,000 yards of mulch, we are one of the only suppliers in the metro west area to make our own natural mulch. During this process we recycle hundreds of yards of material that would otherwise end up in landfills

Our Milford location is currently building a state of the art idea center to help our customers bring their ideas to reality. Over the last 15 years we have gotten involved with the communities in which we operate in a meaningful way:

  • Landscape Depot has helped countless eagle scouts with their community projects.
  • In 2015 we teamed up with Unilock and donated over $16,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation
  • Landscape Depot has recently partnered with Hoops and Homework in Framingham to raise funds for the innovative program that serves the communities youth
  • Live 4 Evan sponsorship
  • Worcester State University
  • Milford and Franklin School donations yearly
  • St. Camilus Fundraising partnership
  • Fraternal Order of Police sponsorships in over 10 communities
  • This is just a small sampling of our effect on the communities we serve, we are honored to give back in any way we can

Landscape Depot delivery trucks traveled over 90,000 miles in 2016. We have served well over 12,000 customers in recent years

In many cases, it’s hard to imagine what a product would look like in its finished form. We have created outdoor showspaces at each of our locations, featuring hundreds of installed products to help you envision your finished project. The presentation is both inspirational and informative and hopefully will give our customers a unique perspective for their home project.

Our dedicated staff has been expertly trained to answer all your product questions. They are ready to guide and support you throughout the phases of your project from basic landscaping to complex decretive hardscapes.

My team is here to be a resource for you. Stop in to any of our locations and get your project started today.
